While I’m far more a player nowadays, I did a lot of blind sport admin when I

was younger: I served as chairman of British Blind Sport from 2000 to 2006, as

well as various other roles before and after that. During that time I also did

some work on ball development for blind cricket in England, which was very

successful indeed.

Despite a strong scientific background, I got very interested, over a decade ago,

in complementary medicine, including various forms of energy healing. My

particular interest was emotional and mental level energy healing, particularly

when used to achieve peak performance; I’ve done several years of research

developing new techniques in this field, using myself, and particularly my blind

tennis performances, as the primary testing arena. This has been very

successful, and I’ll soon begin using these methods to help others.

tournament after the Newcastle Regional Visually Impaired Tennis Tournament is

Wimbledon and I would love to visit all four slams in a calendar year! My favorite

players *in no particular order are Muguruza, Murray, Djokovic, and Lisicki. The

thing I love most about tennis is that it is a game for life, that everybody can

enjoy. From Wimbledon to balloon tennis, it is truly an inclusive sport! I am part

of a Female Coach Mentor Program in the North East and enjoy working

alongside others to develop the game and develop myself as a coach. In order to

try and push myself out of my comfort zone and learn what it’s like to learn

something new for the first time, I am in the process of learning to ride a bike y
